I know it has been forever since I sent out a newsletter. I really want them to be of value to you, so it takes me a long time to find a topic I really think will benefit the most subscribers. I hope this one fits the bill. If there is ever a topic you want to know more about, email me and let me know! Before I get into Twitter, I just want to mention that I redesigned the Curious Light web site. If you haven't already, please take a look.
Getting Started With Twitter - A Great Marketing Tool
I certainly don't claim to be a Twitter expert, but I really think it is a fabulous tool for marketing. This newsletter is to help you get started
on Twitter, and will list some of the great resources I read during my research.
The first step, is of course to sign up for an account. Since I am focusing on using this for marketing, sign up using your business name. Just
go to www.twitter.com, and click "Join for free". Once you do, upload a photo or logo, so you don't end up with the generic twitter image. Your
twitter page will be: http://twitter.com/yourname, mine is http://twitter.com/curiouslt
How to upload your photo/logo:
In the top navigation bar, click 'Settings'Under your account name will be a line of navigation - Account, Password, Devices, Notices, Picture, Design click 'Picture' click 'Browse' and find the photo/logo you want to upload on your computer. click 'Save' Now you are ready to start Tweeting
This is the only time you need to be a follower first. To get people to follow you, you need to start following others. To search for subjects that
interest you, or for people you think might be potential customers, you can search Twitter from other sites.'
Here are a few: Twellow
This is a good one because you can search by category, or enter your own search words.http://www.twellow.com/ Just Tweet It
This is great because you add your name so people can find you, and you can search by categoryhttp://justtweetit.com/ Ways to Tweet
You can also post from your mobile phone or IM account. If you have an iphone or ipod Touch, there are apps to let you tweet from there.
Go to Settings > Phone and IM
From Twitter:
Once you are signed in, you will see an area to enter your tweets - 140 character limit. See below.
From Phone:
From a mobile phone, send an SMS message to 40404. Your phone's caller ID is attached to your Twitter account, so the system will know it's from you.
From IM
message TwitterIM if you're on AOL
